MOEI Gov: “Energy And Infrastructure” Organizes The Second Version Of Future Energy Forum To Foresee The Sector Future

The second version of Future Energy Forum, titled “Economy and Future of Energy”, organized by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, kicks off in Dubai. The forum is a keystone for foreseeing the future of the energy sector for the next 50 years; to meet the requirements of the next phase of the state’s development journey, and build its capabilities to be one of the main providers of various future energies: renewable, nuclear, hydrocarbons and hydrogen.

The Future Energy Forum was attended by prominent figures, including H.E. Haitham Al Ghais, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC); H.E. Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary of Ministry of Energy and infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Sector; H.E. Eng. Yousef Al Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for Electricity, Water and future Energy Sector; and a number of international officials, specialists and partners in government and private agencies. The Forum assumes great importance for its role in supporting the objectives of the UAE; which is one of the countries most interested in clean energy, strengthening its capabilities in the light of global changes, by designing ambitious initiatives and action plans for the energy sector; identifying ambitious initiatives and visions to move to a new phase that supports the diversification of energy sources; and continuing the journey of achievements and smoothly navigating to the next 50 years of international excellence and leadership.

H.E. Sharif Al Olama launched the Forum with welcoming remarks, in which he commended the forum that allows those concerned with the energy sector and specialists to directly interact and discuss future action plans, which are considered a road map for a new phase of comprehensive development according to the vision of the future government. In addition, H.E. praised the positive impact of such ambitious initiatives and forums on strengthening the status of the state in several international indicators related to the energy sector in all its forms, and on achieving the goals of the state and its ambition for global leadership. Moreover, H.E. stressed the importance of the Forum considering the UAE’s readiness to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change “COP 28” next year in 2023.

“Over the past few years, the UAE has made qualitative and ambitious achievements in the energy sector. Today, we are keen to prepare well for the next fifty years with regards to this sector; as it is one of the vital sectors that strengthens the sustainable development journey, and a major center for attracting foreign investments. The State follows a clear approach to planning for the future Energy and addressing climate change and pays great attention to shaping the future of the energy sector, by setting development plans, visions and strategic directions for the next 50 years to enhance the UAE’s regional and global leadership”, H.E. said.

”Today, we are working with an ambitious vision foreseeing the future to continue the development journey of the UAE, by formulating and developing policies, initiatives and projects in cooperation with our partners in the federal authorities, local governments and the private sector for a more prepared, agile and proactive future in dealing with variables and developments to make the UAE the best in the world by 2071”, H.E. added.

H.E. Haitham Al Ghais, OPEC Secretary General , started his participation in the Forum through video conference technology by offering the United Arab Emirates his sincere thanks and appreciation for its valuable and important contributions to the international energy sector, adding that his H.E. Suhail Bin Mohamed AlMazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, has a prominent leading role in this field; especially with regard to the organization’s affairs and the OPEC Plus agreement.

Al Ghais also pointed out the importance of the Forum and its main theme under the current circumstances, noting that the presence of young people today among the attendees enhanced the importance of this event. OPEC Secretary General has pointed out that oil is of great importance in daily life matters, and it also offers interesting job opportunities for young people, through which they can gain a variety of skills and experiences. Therefore, Al Ghais called on the youth to expand their prospects and learn more about the oil industry, expressing his deep hope that a larger number of young people will join this sector in the future.

Future Energy Forum hosted several discussion sessions that brought together a number of entrepreneurs; and discussed the role of entrepreneurship and innovation as a key to the development of the energy sector, the economic vision of the projects of Oil, Gas, and Mineral Wealth Sector, as well as the projects of Electricity, Water and Future Energy Sector. A workshop entitled “Economy and Future of Energy” was organized on the sidelines of the Forum.
