Australia Govt: NatHERS now offering ‘In Home’ energy assessments

22

A new National Scorecard Initiative is being phased into the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS). This will facilitate a consistent Australia-wide approach for assessing the energy performance of older homes.

The extension of NatHERS to include voluntary ‘In Home’ assessments will mean over 9 million householders across Australia will now have the opportunity to measure the energy efficiency of their homes.

The assessments can be done without the need for plans or specifications. Trained and accredited national scorecard assessors will visit homes to provide a star rating certificate, with advice for owners on opportunities for improvement.

The household energy efficiency assessment system, developed by the Victorian Government in 2016, has received national support under a joint government initiative. It provides an assessment tool, and the framework for training and accrediting professionals to undertake assessments.
