Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) announced today that Operations Engineer Elizabeth Peeff at the Borger plant is among the 130 national recipients of the prestigious 2022 STEP Ahead awards by the National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) Manufacturing Institute. The distinct honor celebrates women with an impressive track record of leadership, professional excellence and community involvement in science, technology, engineering and production (STEP) careers.
“Our company strives to create an environment where women can thrive in the workplace and succeed as effective leaders. We in turn are elevated by their insight and dedication,” said Maricela Caballero, senior vice president of human resources. “Congratulations to Elizabeth for the well-earned recognition of her outstanding service to the company and local community.”
Peeff oversees the production, planning, budget and quality of chemical compounds produced in the multipurpose unit (MPU) at CPChem’s Borger site. She is active in encouraging girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and launched one of the first local resource groups for female employees. Peeff mentors new hires in Borger and has coordinated an introductory process curriculum for incoming engineers. She also tutors students in math and science at local public schools and supports several local nonprofits. Peeff managed the United Way workplace giving campaign at her facility raising $50,000 for United Way alongside a company match for a total of $100,000 donated to local charities.
“Receiving this recognition is an honor and a clear example of how CPChem sets female leaders up for success,” said Peeff. “I look forward to further opportunities to give back, and I will continue to seek out innovative ways to contribute to the growth of the company and my community.”
“The 2022 STEP Ahead Honorees and Emerging Leader awardees are excellent representatives of the exciting opportunities available in manufacturing,” said Denise Rutherford, 2022 STEP Ahead chair. “These remarkable women inspire the next generation of female leaders to consider careers in manufacturing.”
The STEP Ahead Awards gala will take place in Washington, D.C., on April 28.
