15

On November 10, CNPC announced that it had successfully completed formation testing in Well 1-BRSA-1381-SPS (Curaçao-1), the first exploratory well in the Aram Block of the Santos Basin in partnership with Petrobras, marking the latest achievement in China-Brazil energy cooperation.

The Aram Block, the largest risk exploration block in the pre-salt area of the Santos Basin in Brazil, was awarded to the consortium formed by Petrobras and CNPC in the sixth pre-salt production sharing bidding round held on November 7, 2019.

Well Curaçao-1, with an operating water depth of 1,905 meters, is located 240 kilometers from the city of Santos. The discovery of high-yield oil flow from the well is a major breakthrough and lays the foundation for CNPC to improve and strengthen its global deepwater oil and gas exploration and development business, train talents and build up technical management experience, making it another successful example of CNPC’s endeavors in cooperative development.
