The Sectorial Vice President for the Economic Area and Minister of People’s Power for Petroleum, Tareck El Aissami, denounced this Friday a new frustrated terrorist attack against the oil industry that was dismantled by the security and intelligence agencies of the Venezuelan State.
From the headquarters of the Ministry of the Popular Power of Petroleum, in Caracas, El Aissami revealed part of the terrorist action with which they intended to detonate and destroy the El Palito Refinery and the gasoline pipeline that runs from the refinery to the Yagua filling plant. in Carabobo state.
“We want to denounce to the national public opinion and to the international community, a new alleged terrorist act against our oil industry, and that we managed to dismantle in advance and thus avoid a criminal action that would have caused damage and loss of human life,” he said.
El Aissami explained that this terrorist act was going to be perpetrated before the parliamentary elections on December 6, to generate a national commotion and achieve the suspension of the electoral process.
For this case, Francisco Javier Pacheco Pérez and César Antonio Guevara Díaz, a Venezuelan national, were detained in Carabobo state on Thursday, December 10, who were part of the terrorist plan that aimed to detonate and destroy the El Palito Refinery, through of the use of powerful explosives.
El Aissami specified that the detained terrorists also intended to exploit and destroy the main pipeline for pumping gasoline and other products, from the El Palito Refinery to the PDVSA filling plant, Yagua.
At the time of the arrest of these two citizens, a significant amount of explosive devices that would be used in the terrorist action were seized in Morón, a few kilometers from the El Palito Refinery.
Among the seized material is 40×400 senatel cartridged emulsion (mortadella), MS and LP detonators (candle), 27 kilos pentolite boosters and a large amount of detonating cord.
“The detonation of these powerful explosives could have completely disappeared the El Palito Refinery and seriously affected the neighboring towns of El Palito and Puerto Cabello,” said El Aissami, while alerting national public opinion and the international community about the magnitude and seriousness of the disarticulated plan.
Iván Duque involved in terrorist attack
During the broadcast of Venezolana de Televisión, the Minister of Oil denounced that the Colombian authorities facilitated the transfer and irregular entry of provisions and devices for the realization of this serious crime.
“Furthermore, as part of the strategy, these groups, trained and gifted in Colombia, would enter Venezuelan territory for the commission of these serious acts and pretend that they are supposed internal subversive cells, contrary to the Revolutionary Government,” he said.
In this regard, he warned that this terrorist plan “was prepared in Colombia by deserters from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), who enjoy protection and support from the Colombian government of Iván Duque, who directly authorized this terrorist attack.”
Finally, he reported that the Public Ministry is carrying out the investigation of this frustrated terrorist act, which has been financed and supported by Iván Duque from Colombia.
