European Commission: Commissioner Simson at the annual International Energy Agency ministerial meeting in Paris
Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, will travel tomorrow to Paris to represent the Commission at the International Energy Agency (IEA) ministerial meeting. This year, the 2-day meeting is dedicated to ‘Accelerating Global Action on Clean Energy and Energy Security’ in the backdrop of Russia’s unjustified aggression against Ukraine and efforts to pursue the European Green Deal.
On top of participating in government-industry dialogues and plenary ministerial meetings, the Commissioner will participate tomorrow in web streamed side events on ‘Ensuring a people-centered and just clean energy transition’ and ‘Post-COP26 priorities: supporting Africa’s clean energy transitions’. On Thursday, she will attend a side meeting on the Clean Energy Transitions Programme.
Throughout the 2 days, the Commissioner will also have bilateral meetings with US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, Israel’s Energy Minister Karine Elharrar, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources Jonathan Wilkison and Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Energy for European Integration Yaroslav Demchenkov.
