Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, will be in Poland next week to discuss EU energy policy and Ukraine’s energy future, in the context of Russia’s continued illegal attack on the country.

On Monday, the Commissioner will deliver a keynote speech at the European Economic Congress’s opening plenary session on ‘Economy/Green Marshall Plan for Ukraine’ and will participate in a panel discussion on the Commission’s ‘Fit for 55′ proposals. Later that evening, in Warsaw, she will meet the Polish Minister of Climate and Environment, Anna Moskwa. A joint press point by the Minister and Commissioner will take place on Tuesday, at 10.10 CET, and will be available later on Ebs.

On Tuesday, she will also visit the Siekierki district heating plant, and then meet with members of the Polish Parliament’s Committee on Energy, Climate and State Assets and the Committee on European Union Affairs. In the afternoon, the Commissioner will attend a signing ceremony marking Ukrenergo’s entry into the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) as an observer, following the emergency synchronisation of the Ukrainian and Moldovan electricity grids with the Continental European grid.
