European Commission: Launch of the new websites of ETIP SNET and Bridge

28

The two European Commission initiatives ETIP Smart Networks for Energy Transition (SNET) and Bridge (previously referred to as Bridge H2020) launched their new, updated websites on 31 May and 1 June, respectively.

These initiatives are at the core of smart energy systems, which play a pivotal role in enhancing the clean energy transition to reach the European Green Deal’s climate targets and support the REPowerEU plan. They both aim at contributing to the decarbonisation of energy systems, transport, industry and building stock, and to involve consumers and citizen communities in energy systems.

The ETIP SNET initiative’s main role is to guide research, development and innovation to support Europe’s energy transition through six different working groups focusing on energy efficiency systems, storage technologies, flexible generation, digitalisation of the electricity system and innovation. Amongst various tasks, it identifies innovation barriers, related to regulation and financing and provides input to the Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan) action 4, addressing the technical challenges raised by the transformation of the energy system.

Bridge is a cooperation group involving 90 projects in the area of smart grid, energy storage, islands and digitalisation projects funded under Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe aiming to create a structured view of cross-cutting issues, which are encountered in the demonstration projects and may constitute an obstacle to innovation. It also fosters continuous knowledge sharing amongst projects, allowing them to deliver conclusions and recommendations about the future exploitation of the project results through four different working groups on data management, business models, regulations and consumer and citizen engagement. Bridge is structured through four working groups (data management, business model, regulation and customer engagement) and three task-forces (energy communities, replicatibility/scalability analysis and joint communication).

ETIP SNET and Bridge both offer the possibility to interested stakeholders and citizens to subscribe to their respective newsletters.
