National Energy Resources Australia (NERA) has announced a $1.85M investment in 13 hydrogen clusters across all Australian states and territories. The establishment of a nationwide hydrogen cluster will position Australia as a major competitor in the global hydrogen fuel industry.
Funding commitments towards the network have been made by from state/territory governments and industry.
The cluster – which would operate as a virtual network – will establish a global identity and a recognised brand for Australian hydrogen technology and expertise.
The establishment of the regional hydrogen clusters follows the conclusion of the selection process of Regional Hydrogen Technology Cluster Seed Funding Program announced in September 2020.
NERA CEO Miranda Taylor said, ‘Today marks a great step forward in Australia’s capability in developing hydrogen technologies.
‘These regional clusters, all of which have the support of their state and territory governments, have been established around key, existing hydrogen projects and technology supply chains in strategic locations that have a demonstrated capacity to support them.’
