Hitachi Energy: Hitachi Energy transformer factory in Monselice celebrates 70th anniversary

Established as INDELVE – Industria Elettrotecnica Veneta in 1952 to produce transformers and insulators, Hitachi Energy’s factory in Monselice, a few kilometers from Padua and Venice (Italy), develops and produces power transformers up to 190 MVA 230kV, supporting power transmission and distribution in Italy and abroad. The factory is in fact exporting to Europe, North Africa and Middle East.

Monselice unit (some 250 employees) is a center for the development and design of power transformers up to 63 MVA and for the special design for mobile substations (i.e., transformers integrated with high-voltage and control equipment installed on trailers), reconnecting plants to the grid under emergency conditions, in very short time. It also houses one of the technology centers of the Global Transformers Business Unit.

More than 400 people – employees with their families, partners, media and local institutions – attended factory tours and the events.

After the opening speech of Matteo Scattolin, Factory General Manager Power Transformers, Hitachi Energy, some former employees took the floor and shared experiences and anecdotes from the past. From a small factory in the center of Monselice, to a 17000sqm modern factory – inaugurated in 2009 – with 240 employees: the secret sauce of success has always been the dedication and commitment of its people. Within the group, it is recognized as one of the best performing factories in terms of quality.

During the event, employees that have been in the company for 20, 25 and 30 years have been celebrated. It was also the occasion to celebrate the scholarship for employees’ sons and daughters, for their outstanding achievements.

As neighboring municipalities’ majors were attending, Giorgia Bedin, Major of Monselice, and Roberto Marcato, in charge of Energy and Economic Development at Veneto Region, held their speeches, praising the team and the company at this special occasion.
