Indonesia Energy Ministry: Electrical Stimulus Extended, Here’s How to Get It

The government has determined the extension of the electricity program stimulus in the form of discounted electricity tariffs, the implementation of a 50% burden or subscription fee exemption, and the exemption from the application of the 50% minimum account requirement until the fourth quarter or until December 2021.

In order to ease the burden on the community during the Emergency PPKM period, the Government provides a 50 percent discount on electricity rates for household, business, and industrial power customers of 450 VA power, as well as a 25% discount for subsidized 900 VA power household customers.

According to the Director of Commerce and Customer Management of PT PLN (Persero) Bob Saril in his official statement, Tuesday (20/7), the discount will be given directly to customers. Postpaid customers will get a discount with a direct cut on their electricity bill. Meanwhile, for prepaid customers, discounted electricity rates are given when purchasing electricity tokens. Especially for prepaid customers with 450 VA power, a stimulus will be obtained when buying electricity tokens. Customers no longer need to access tokens, either through the PLN website or WhatsApp.

In addition, for customers who receive stimulus in the form of exemption from burden fees, subscription fees, and exemption from minimum account provisions, the stimulus through PLN will be carried out automatically by cutting the electricity bills of social, business and industrial customers. The 50% discount only applies to load or subscription fees and minimum account usage fees.

Director of Electricity Business Development Ida Nuryatin Finahari said that PLN and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also opened a complaint service for customers regarding the electricity program stimulus. According to Ida, PLN has opened a complaint channel regarding the stimulus through the PLN Mobile application.

“Then, if there are unresolved complaints on the PLN 123 complaint channel, the public can submit electricity consumer complaints to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through [email protected],” explained Ida, Wednesday (21/7).
