Indonesia Energy Ministry: Fulfill the conditions, these are the tips for mining companies to win PSBE
The 2021 Subroto Award for Energy Efficiency (PSBE) is slightly different from the previous year. This year, mining companies can compete in a special category, namely Energy Management in Industry and Buildings for the Mining and Energy Industry. This means that the chances of winning a trophy at the highest award in the energy and mineral resources sector are getting bigger.
The condition is that the mining industry participating in the competition has been operating for a minimum of 3 years. This is to see the downward trend in energy consumption which is the result of energy efficiency efforts as well as the environmental impacts that occur, such as reducing carbon emissions.
Efficiency efforts made by the company, apart from having the opportunity to be designated as the winner of the Subroto Award, are also more useful in saving efforts, one of which can reduce company costs.
Director of Energy Conservation of the Directorate General of EBTKE, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Puspa Dewi, explained that the winners of the Energy Saving Building and Energy Management in Industry and Building categories will represent Indonesia in the international arena. “The winner represents Indonesia in a higher event, namely the ASEAN Energy Awards in 2022 and gets a passing grade in the efficiency aspect at the Proper Award initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry,” said Puspa at a virtual socialization held on Friday (6/8).
Furthermore, the Directorate of Energy Conservation team shared the assessment criteria and the allocation of the maximum value to win the Subroto Award for Energy Conservation. The “Impact” criteria consisting of aspects of Energy Saving, Environmental Impact, Economic Impact both investment and payback period, as well as the Energy Efficiency Index have an allocation of 30%.
Meanwhile, the highest score allocation is in the “Sustainable” criteria which consists of aspects of the level of participation and involvement, top management commitment, long-term and short-term plans, implementation of organizations in supporting energy management and capacity building activities as well as education and training in energy conservation as much as 40%.
Furthermore, the parameters and management practices as well as the technology used have a value portion of 15%, authenticity of creativity and innovation 10%, as well as all aspects and presentations as well as compliance with the proposal format get a value portion of 5%.
Judging from the portion of the value, mining companies that will participate in the PSBE assessment are expected to be able to elaborate explanations and data on the impact and sustainability of the energy efficiency programs that have been carried out.
All criteria and guidelines in the PSBE can be accessed through the website esdm.go.id/psbe/ with the deadline for submitting proposals no later than August 15, 2021. (KA)
