Vagit Alekperov, President of PJSC LUKOIL, met with medallists of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games from the Russian national cross country ski team and their coaches today in LUKOIL headquarters. He congratulated the sportsmen and gifted them souvenirs and LUKOIL fuel cards.
A special tribute was paid to the three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov who won 5 medals, the head coach of the national team Yury Borodavko, and the President of the Cross Country Ski Federation of Russia Yelena Valbe.
The Company also made a donation to the Cross Country Ski Federation of Russia for the development of children and youth sports.
“The Cross Country Ski Federation of Russia has been cooperating with LUKOIL for many years. We are proud to be one of the first sports organization that received the Company’s support. Such long-standing projects give us an opportunity to look into the future with confidence. Every our medal has a drop of LUKOIL in it,” said Yelena Valbe, President of the Cross Country Ski Federation of Russia.

They help not only the main team, but also the junior teams that are yet at the outset of their sports career,” noted Alexander Bolshunov, the triumphant of the Beijing Olympic Games.

We kept track of the wins of our male and female relay teams and of the personal achievements of Alexander Bolshunov and other skiers with great admiration. Support of the sports is one of the main vectors of LUKOIL’s social policy. Since 1998, the Company is the title sponsor of Russian national cross country skiing team. The 2021-2022 season became the most successful for the team in its entire history.
At the Olympic Winter Games that took place in Beijing between 4 and 20 February 2022, Russian national cross country skiing team won a record number of 11 medals (4 golds, 4 silvers and 3 bronzes). This made an Olympic medal record for Russian team in this discipline.
