The first Marathon Petroleum – United Way Golf Tournament to benefit the El Paso, TX community is in the books. The recent tournament brought together companies from across El Paso County looking to give United Way a jumpstart after a very difficult year due to COVID-19.
The golf tournament raised over $65,000. In addition, Marathon Petroleum’s El Paso refinery held a workplace giving campaign over a 60-day period starting in April that sent the total amount raised over $120,000.
“We want to thank Marathon Petroleum, their employees, and all of our sponsors who made this first-ever event a big success,” said Deb Zuloaga, President & CEO, United Way of El Paso County. “Your support will have ripple effects throughout the El Paso community, and we are immensely grateful.”
The proceeds will benefit the United Way of El Paso County Community Impact Fund, which supports programs and initiatives for those throughout the community who are in need of assistance relating to health, education, financial stability, and other basic services.
“We are thrilled by the success of both our employee giving campaign and the golf tournament that we were able to co-host with the United Way, which drew the support of many great sponsors and participants,” said CP Patsatzis, Refining General Manager, Marathon Petroleum – El Paso. “Once again, our employees in El Paso showed up to make a difference in our community, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
A total of 24 teams from more than a dozen companies participated in the inaugural golf event.
