Recently, Marathon Petroleum’s MPLX Northern Great Plains logistics group made a donation to McKenzie County Emergency Management in North Dakota to fully fund a full-scale Mobile Emergency Operations Center (MEOC).

The trailer acts as a central command and control facility on wheels, allowing multiple emergency response agencies to effectively communicate with one another, in real time, and to maximize resources when responding to catastrophic accidents or disasters.

“We now have an EOC that can be used in the field or can be converted quickly to a hazmat response vehicle for practically any event when needed,” said Karolin Jappe, Emergency Manager, McKenzie County Emergency Management.

Jappe said emergency responders have already benefited from the trailer during a recent incident in the county.

The grant was made possible through the Marathon Petroleum Foundation, which focuses its community investments on areas where it can make a positive, measurable impact, including public safety.
