Employees from Marathon Petroleum’s Mandan, North Dakota, refinery spent a full day participating in the recent Day of Caring event hosted by the Missouri Slope Areawide United Way. More than 30 employee volunteers from the Mandan refinery, and five employees from MPLX, wore the United Way Hero T-shirts to support partner agencies, social service organizations, and neighbors in need throughout the Bismarck-Mandan community.
“We can’t thank Marathon Petroleum enough for their continued support of our programs and events like Day of Caring,” said Lori Ledahl, Operations Director, Missouri Slope Areawide United Way. “Together we can, and we are, accomplishing great things to help those in need.”
The team from Marathon spent time cleaning and painting at the local Salvation Army, Dakota Zoo, Missouri Valley YMCA and Buckstop Junction.
“This is a day our team was really looking forward to,” said Julie Stoll, Human Resources Business Partner at the Mandan refinery. “It’s such an amazing event because it engages the entire community, and we’re proud to be a part of something that benefits so many.”
The 2021 event was comprised of more than 500 volunteers investing thousands of hours into dozens of local projects throughout the Bismarck-Mandan and surrounding communities.
