Marathon Petroleum´s Mexico Business Unit donated 500,000 pesos, equivalent approximately to $25,000 USD, to Fondo Unido Chihuahua (FUCH), one of two United Way Representation Offices in Mexico during an event on Nov. 23. The donation will support several activities among students in elementary schools in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua:
Play Home By Play Aprende will help more than 500 children develop soft skills in emotional intelligence and creative problem solving. The goal is to help students become agents of change.
Educator Training will bring a teaching-learning model to preschool and elementary teachers for a period of seven weeks.
Robotics is aimed at introducing STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills to students in 5th and 6th grades through robotic classes.
At Marathon Petroleum, we are focused on creating shared value that considers the wellbeing of our collaborators and the communities where we have a presence, which includes Mexico,” said Armando Villarreal, Chihuahua Territory Manager, who represented Marathon Petroleum and the Arco® brand at the event. “We are excited about the growth of these students in our community.”
The state of Chihuahua is home to 16 ARCO® retail gas stations that are supplied directly from Marathon Petroleum’s El Paso refinery.
