METI: Minister Hagiuda Attends an Australia-India-Japan Trade Ministers’ Meeting (Supply Chain Resilience Initiative)
On March 15, Mr. Hagiuda Koichi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry attended an Australia-India-Japan Trade Ministers’ Online-Meeting to hold a discussion with H.E. Mr. Dan Tehan, Australia’s Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment and H.E. Mr. Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry.
Minister Hagiuda attended an Australia-India-Japan Trade Ministers’ Online Meeting. The ministers discussed the cooperation for promoting the Supply Chain Resilience Initiative (SCRI).
The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further develop the SCRI to address the supply chain disruptions and promote strong, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive growth in the Indo-Pacific region.
In addition, the ministers welcomed the trilateral actions for supply chain resilience such as the sharing of best practices on supply chain resilience and the holding of an investment promotion/buyer-seller matching event since the launch of the SCRI last April.
On this basis, the ministers agreed to trilaterally work on formulation of supply chain principles in the region, facilitation of joint projects for supply chain resilience, and cooperation among, business, academia, and government in each country, including trade and investment promotion organizations such as JETRO.
Japan will facilitate the discussion of the SCRI as the chair country for around one year.
