Meti: Minister Kajiyama’s meeting with IAEA Director General Grossi: Agreement on launch of review missions, Discussion of new activities towards continuous use of nuclear energy

On August 19, 2021, Mr. Kajiyama Hiroshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Both sides agreed to proceed with review missions on the decommissioning of TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and the safety of ALPS treated water. Furthermore, Minister Kajiyama proposed to cooperate in the areas of human resources development in the nuclear field and accurate information dissemination in view of continuous use of nuclear energy towards realization of a carbon-neutral economy.
