METI: Minister Nishimura Receives Courtesy Call from the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Japan

On November 1 (Tue.), Mr. Nishimura Yasutoshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, received a courtesy call from the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with Japan.

Mr. Nishimura, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Ms. Christel Schaldemose, Member of the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with Japan, shared the recognition that as strategically important partners that share fundamental values and cooperate in the promotion of free trade, Japan and the EU will continue to strengthen cooperation in various fields.

Minister Nishimura explained about the current status of the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, including the efforts to secure the safety of the discharge of ALPS treated water into the sea, and requested EU to quickly lift the EU’s import measures on Japanese food products which were established because of the nuclear accident.
