Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced its support for “Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics,” established mainly by the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s International Business Council (IBC). MOL joined the WEF in September 2021 and since then has proactively participated in the annual general meeting and regional meetings.
The guidelines provide a package of universal and comparable disclosure items that can be reported regardless of industry and region. They serve as an index of non-financial information disclosure and a framework for disclosure and reporting of such data, comprised of 21 core indexes centering on four pillars: Governance, Planet, People, and Prosperity, and 34 expansion indexes.
MOL specified priority issues (Sustainability Issues) to reinforce Sustainability Management, which is indispensable in realizing the Group Vision, and enhanced initiatives aimed at solving each issue. MOL believes that it can contribute to achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and help increase its value as a sustainable corporation by addressing Sustainability Issues.
To meet the needs of stakeholders and continually be “the trusted company” and “the company of choice,” MOL will develop internal systems using this framework and expand information disclosure in accordance with the progression of the development, while promoting sustainable growth in partnership with society.
