MOEI Gov Inaugurates Road Linking Emirates Road And Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road

On the occasion of the UAE’s 51st National Day, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has inaugurated on Friday, December 2nd, the road linking Emirates Road with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road. The new road is a vertical corridor on the federal roads and comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to develop infrastructure across various emirates of the state, especially in the roads sector, benefitting both the state and the citizens, as well the various economic, social, tourism, land transport sectors, and others.

HE Eng. Youssef Abdullah, Assistant Undersecretary for the Federal Infrastructure Projects Sector, explained that the 13 km long road, featuring a tunnel intersection on Emirates Road, is a strategic corridor within the road network master plan implemented by the Ministry, and contributes to the flow of traffic, as it accommodates more than 6,000 vehicles per hour. It is also expected to curtail the driving time from Al Ittihad Road to Emirates Road by more than 60% for the passing traffic and will contribute to easing traffic and passing traffic congestion on Al Zubair Road for those heading to and from Emirates Road, from the city of Ajman and Hamriya area in Sharjah.He pointed out that the federal roads sector is a priority for HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, and his brother, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and their brothers, Their Highnesses, members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates, as it boosted the country’s position on the global competitiveness indicators.”
Abdullah stressed that the UAE pays special attention to infrastructure development projects across the emirates of the country, in order to improve the quality of roads and land transport and enhance global competitiveness, given their strong role in the coming fifty years. He said that the state has sought since the Union in 1971 to link the various emirates of the country through a modern, sustainable and advanced road network to facilitate the flow of traffic, support the economic and tourism sectors and social cohesion, and achieve the happiness and wellbeing aspired by the UAE government.
