Trade, Industry, and Energy Minister Moon Sung-wook attended the International Energy Agency (IEA) Ministerial Meeting held at IEA headquarters in Paris on March 24 to discuss energy security and energy transition.
During the session, Minister Moon stated that “South Korea has declared that it will actively participate in stabilizing the energy market in joint efforts with the international community,” and added that “Korea has joined in the recent release of oil reserves for a total of 4.42 million barrels, and is prepared to further partake in necessary oil and gas cooperation measures.” He emphasized that Korea is enthusiastic in its efforts to promote large-scale investments in hydrogen, ESS (energy storage system), energy IT, and new energy industries.
The event was attended by representatives of 30 other IEA member states, including the U.S., the UK, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Japan.
