Moscow: Nikolay Shulginov held a working meeting with the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current and prospective projects of Russian fuel and energy companies in Uzbekistan, as well as strategic directions of development in a multilateral format, including in the future cooperation in the EAEU. Nikolai Shulginov emphasized that the oil and gas sector remains one of the key areas of cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.

“Russian companies are successfully producing gas in Uzbekistan, are engaged in geological exploration and construction of infrastructure. A striking example of fruitful cooperation between our countries is the joint project of Lukoil with the Uzbek company Uzbekneftegaz on the Kandym gas processing complex, commissioned in 2018. Successful cooperation in the gas sector is being conducted in Uzbekistan by the Russian Gazprom, participating in the additional development of the Shakhpakhty field and developing the Dzhel gas condensate field, where natural gas production is planned to begin in 2021, ”the Minister noted.

The minister added that “Russian energy companies do not limit their interaction with the framework of existing projects and are ready to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan in all areas of the fuel and energy complex,” including in power generation, in particular, hydropower through the RusHydro company. Thus, Russian companies are already supplying a wide range of petroleum products to the Republic, and are increasing gasoline supplies, Nikolai Shulginov gave an example. Among other things, the development of new projects is also facilitated by the successful interdepartmental work of the two countries in the energy sector within the framework of the Energy Sub-Commission established in 2019, which met in March 2020.
