NTPC Darlipali Unit#2 (800 MW) starts Commercial Operation

Bhubaneswar: NTPC Darlipali started commercial operation of 2nd unit (800 MW) w.e.f. 00:00 hrs on 01.09.2021. With this the total capacity of NTPC Darlipali becomes 1600 MW. The total commercial capacity of NTPC and NTPC Group becomes 53225 MW and 66650 MW respectively.

With the capacity addition, NTPC Darlipali shall ensure reliable electricity production and would also secure the electricity demands of eastern region states. The state of Odisha is allocated with more than 50% of the electricity produced and the other four beneficiaries’ states being Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Sikkim. The pit head-based thermal power plant is currently sourcing its requirement of fossil fuel from its Dulanga coal mines at Sundargarh and Mahanadi Coal Limited.

Joining through virtual meet, Shri Ramesh Babu V., Director (Operations) and Shri U K Bhattacharya, Director (Projects) congratulated NTPC Darlipali for their untiring efforts in the journey of Darlipali project construction & commissioning and reckoned the moment as historical.

Shri A. K. Samaiyar, CGM (Darlipali) expressed gratitude to the top management for their continuous guidance to the site team and all stakeholders for their unconditional support to NTPC Darlipali.
