Orenburgneft’s Green Investments Amount to Almost 2 Billion Roubles in 2020

Orenburgneft, part of the Rosneft Oil Company oil-producing complex, invested more than 1.9 billion roubles in the implementation of environment-oriented and natural rehabilitation activities in 2020. The funds were allocated into the implementation of the targeted gas programme, the pipeline reliability improvement programme as well as environmental monitoring, reclamation, and processing wastes disposal effectiveness enhancement.

Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture and business operations of Rosneft. The Company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimizing the environmental impact and ensuring the eco-friendliness of its production.

The accelerated implementation of the pipeline reliability improvement programme in Orenburgneft entailed to the frequency of pipeline failures reduction by 2% compared to the previous year in the region in 2020. The number of field pipeline failures has decreased by 44% in 7 years. Orenburgneft carries out diagnostics and expertise of the industrial safety in the 30% of pipeline fund annually.

As a part of the targeted gas programme Vakhitoskaya gas compressor station was upgraded technically, and two pipelines were constructed ‑ to Rostashinskaya gas compressor station and Zagorskaya associated petroleum gas compressor plant. In total, 19 infrastructure facilities have been upgraded and built in five years. This will allow using additional 178 million cubic meters of associated petroleum gas from 2021 to 2025.

The monitoring of atmosphere air conditions, soils, underground and ground waters allows keeping the constant control of the general environmental situation in the regions of Company’s activity. Since 2017, the number of samples of atmosphere air analyzed has increased by more than 1.5 times up to 1185 in 2020.

Also, Orenburgneft completed the elimination of the so-called «historic heritage», the old mud pits for sludge storage. Nowadays the drilling waste disposal is not stored and collected as it is completely utilized with the use of modern technologies approved by the state ecological assessment. The secondary product made of recycled drilling fluid is used in the technological process again.

For two years, the enterprise has utilized about 370,000 tonnes of production wastes, eliminated more than 240 mud pits, remediated more than 160 hectares of land.

The Company implements the aquatic bioresources artificial reproduction programme. In the last two years, more than 200,000 fries of common carp have been released into the Volga and Ural Rivers.

The complex environment-oriented and natural rehabilitation activities Orenburgneft implements systematically allow preserving the environment for future generations in the regions of oil production.
