The Sectorial Vice President of Economy, Tareck El Aissami, regarding his intervention in the High-Level Dialogue on Energy, convened by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), expressed the commitment of Venezuela to agree on comprehensive energy policies. access to energy by meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
In this sense, the Venezuelan representative who participates in this activity organized as part of the agenda of the 76th annual session of the UN, assured leaders and representatives of more than 100 countries that the nation shares its commitment in the implementation of new policies in the energy field, technological development, financing and investment.
When reiterating the need to strengthen mitigation and adaptation actions in accordance with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, Vice President El Aissami considered it of utmost importance to “agree on a comprehensive policy in the strategic vision of the transition energy, as a flag of the human cause that generates a collective impact of social welfare ”.
He was emphatic when he pointed out that “the gap in access to energy and the destabilization of global temperature is materialized by the confrontation between two visions. On the one hand, developed countries seek to perpetuate the hegemonic schemes that favor them, strengthening consumption patterns, while developing nations demand the right to eradicate poverty and choose their own forms of development without suffering the consequences and carrying the burden generated. due to the unsustainable consumption levels of the so-called developed nations ”.
In addition, he assured that it is imperative that governments have the political will to strengthen cooperation aimed at guaranteeing the development of alternative energy sources, for this the developed countries and powers “must abandon the colonialist vision and move towards multilateralism and international cooperation.”
In another vein, the Sectorial Vice President of Economy denounced before the multilateral organization the illegal application of unilateral coercive measures and the financial blockade by the government of the United States, the European Union and its allied countries to Venezuela since 2015, specifying that “these attacks undermine the plans linked to the Paris Agreement and sovereign national development.”
At the General Assembly held in New York City, representatives from different countries seek to redefine the post-pandemic world economy, aimed at being more beneficial for the planet; making decisions that ensure human, economic and environmental health, objectives to which Venezuela ratified the commitment to continue working hand in hand with the United Nations System in favor of the peoples of the world.
