According to the information submitted during today’s Morning Conference regarding the video which recorded a meeting that was held at a restaurant in Mexico City between Carlos Antonio Romero Deschamps, the Federal Representative and Secretary of the Interior, Protocol and Agreements, Manuel Limón Hernández, as well as Fernando Navarrete Pérez, Chairman of the Surveillance Committee of the General Executive Committee of the Mexican Oil Workers’ Union, and Alejandro Cabrera Fernández, who held the position as head of the Coordination of Labor Relations and Human Resources at Petróleos Mexicanos at the time:

With regard to this matter, Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) reports that, as soon as the said video was made known (on October 15th this year), employee Alejandro Cabrera Fernández was suspended from his duties, and, following an assessment of the case, the company ruled on the termination of the working relationship.

The State-owned productive company considers that the aforementioned person, unilaterally and without knowledge or authorization from his senior officers, strayed from the ethical principles that regulate and govern Petróleos Mexicanos and its Subsidiary Productive Companies and Affiliate Companies, as his position as head of labor relations and human resources at PEMEX, all of his activities pertaining to his mandate must be carried out at the company’s premises. Therefore, it is considered that there was no justification to hold meetings of any kind, outside the company’s premises and during business hours, with former directors and/or former union leaders who have no working relationship whatsoever with the company.
