Pertamina: Pertamina’s ESG Commitment is Internationally Recognized by Receiving GCSA and ASSRAT 2021 Awards
PT Pertamina (Persero) continues its commitment to a business based on sustainable principles by applying the aspects of Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG). This step is conveyed in a transparent and accountable manner through a sustainable reporting system (sustainability report).
VP Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fajriyah Usman, said Pertamina is committed to becoming a world-class national energy company. Pertamina also aspires to be known as a company that is environmentally friendly, socially responsible and prioritizes good governance.
“Pertamina has formulated and has an ESG strategy, roadmap, and continuously updated policies to realize a sustainable business,” said Fajriyah.
This commitment has been recognized by two international institutions. Namely, the Alliance for Sustainable Development Goals (ASDGs) and the National Center for Sustainability Reporting. Pertamina receives an international award, the Global Corporate Sustainable Award (GCSA) organized by ASDGs in collaboration with the Taiwan Institute of Sustainable Energy (TAISE). This year is the first time Pertamina has participated in GCSA and won the Bronze Award in the Sustainability Reporting category. The GCSA Award assesses Pertamina’s ESG performance from the Pertamina Sustainability Report for the 2020 financial year by disclosing information through the “Sustainability” website. The award was presented by the Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Dr. Lai Chingte,
“We hope that this appreciation will encourage Pertamina Group sustainability performance in the future while encouraging other companies in Indonesia to compete in the global arena,” said Head of the Taipei Indonesian Economic and Trade Office (IETO), Budi Santoso representing Pertamina.
In addition to Pertamina, the Upstream Subholding of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi also won the ‘Great Practice Award’ in the Best Practice category at GCSA 2021. Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding excels in its CSR Program. Namely, the Empower Gampong Paloh Program run by Regional Sumatra through PT Pertamina EP Field Rantau. Apart from the Pertamina group, several other companies from Indonesia, Canada, France, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States received awards in the Sustainability Report category.
GCSA has high credibility by presenting professional judges such as Rajesh Chhabara – Managing Director of CSRWorks International, Alan McGill – Global Sustainability Assurance Leader PWC UK – Edoardo Gai – Head of ESG Benchmarking S&P Global, Keiichi Ushijima – EY Climate Change and Sustainability Services, Dr Juniati Gunawan – Director of Trisakti Sustainability Center, Prof. Dr Ali Ghufron Mukti – President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, and other professionals working in the ESG sector.
On another occasion, in Jakarta, Pertamina also won the fourth Gold Rank since the 2021 Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT) event held by the National Center for Sustainability Reporting. The award was received by VP Investor Relations, Juferson Victor Mangempis, at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta (17/11). Previously, ASRRAT was called the Sustainability Reporting Awards (SRA) and has been held since 2005. Apart from Pertamina, Pertamina Hulu Energi ONWJ also received a Gold Rank, and Pertamina Drilling Contractor received a Silver Rank in ASRRAT 2021.
“This appreciation brings new energy for us to improve ESG implementation. This award further enhances our reputation as a world-class national energy company,” concluded Fajriyah.
