Policy Dialogue held on Japan-Thailand Smart Industrial Safety

On December 13, Mr. Tsujimoto Keisuke, Director-General for Technology Policy Coordination and Industrial and Product Safety, received a courtesy call from Mr. Jullapong Thaveesri, Director General of the Department of Industrial Works of the Ministry of Industry of the Kingdom of Thailand.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on smart industrial safety based on the director-general-level Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Smart Industrial Safety* between Japan and Thailand.
Both sides reaffirmed that Japan and Thailand will continue to collaborate and exchange information on technology and policy trends in the field of smart industrial safety.
Mr. Sasaji Ken, Deputy Director-General for Industrial and Product Safety, METI, and Mr. Jullapong Thaveesri, Director General of the Department of Industrial Works of the Ministry of Industry of the Kingdom of Thailand, held a policy dialogue on how to proceed with smart industrial safety policy.

During the policy dialogue, both sides exchanged views on the necessity of forming concrete cooperation projects such as pilot projects from the viewpoint of actually deploying Japanese smart industrial safety technologies in Thai companies in the future and confirming their effectiveness. This was based on the exchange of views on the most recent policy trends in the field of smart industrial safety in both countries, and the visit to and exchange of views at a Thai oil refining and petrochemical company held in Thailand in September 2022.

They also discussed the importance of using and forming a system for smart industrial safety consortium frameworks between Japan and Thailand in order to continue fostering human resources in Thailand that can use smart industrial safety technologies such as the IoT, AI, and drones.

During the meeting, they also exchanged views on policies on CCUS and regulations on chemical substances, and energetically discussed a wide range of themes.

Both sides reaffirmed that Japan and Thailand will continue to collaborate, exchange information on technology and policy trends in the field of smart industrial safety, and take concrete actions in the future.
