Angarsk Petrochemical Company, an enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company’s refining and petrochemical complex, has delivered more than 26 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen to medical institutions in Irkutsk Region.

The first batch of medical oxygen, which is in high demand in the region’s medical facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic, was supplied by the company to the Angarsk Perinatal Centre. The medical oxygen is now also being utilised by Medical and Sanitary Unit No. 36, as well as healthcare facilities in the north of the region. Angarsk Petrochemical Company is in talks with other regional institutions wishing to purchase the sought-after product.

The quality of medical oxygen is monitored by specialists from the in-house quality control centre. The multi-stage quality control at each production stage provides for a high-purity product of at least 99.5 % oxygen.

The enterprise has secured a licence for the new product from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade within a short period of time. Medical oxygen is included in the State Register of Medicines.

Angarsk Petrochemical Company has upgraded its nitrogen and oxygen unit in order to make the new product. An additional process line and tanks to stockpile and store cryogenic products have been installed. Oxygen is produced by separating air using the deep-cold method. In addition to medical oxygen, Angarsk Petrochemical Company also produces industrial liquid and gaseous oxygen.

At the 100 Best Goods in Russia programme’s national competition, Vladimir Kulikov, Deputy Chief Technologist for Petrochemicals at Angarsk Petrochemical Company, was awarded an Excellence in Quality certificate of honour for his direct involvement in the project to produce liquid medical oxygen.
