Russia Ministry of Energy: Nikolay Shulginov held a working meeting with the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov
Nikolay Shulginov and the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov discussed topical issues of cooperation at the “Russian Energy Week”.
The Minister noted that work is underway to study the possibility of uniting the energy systems of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran (the project of the North-South energy bridge).
“The first stage should be the development of a feasibility study for the project, an agreement on which has already been signed by the companies TAVANIR, Azerenerji, SO UES and Rosseti. The Iranian engineering company Monenko has been selected as the project developer, ”he said.
Nikolay Shulginov also stressed that Russian companies are interested in implementing joint projects for the construction, modernization, restoration of hydroelectric power plants and other energy facilities in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. The issue of organizing a business mission of Russian energy enterprises to this region is being worked out to assess the situation and the possibility of implementing these projects jointly with the Azerbaijani side.
The minister added that work is now underway to agree on a draft Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on expanding cooperation in the field of energy.
