Russia Ministry of Energy: Russia intends to increase coal supplies to India to about 40 million tons per year

Nikolay Shulginov and the Minister of Steel Industry of the Republic of India Ram Chandra Prasad Singkh “on the sidelines” of the Russian Energy Week signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the supply of coking coal.

“The agreement is aimed at increasing the supply of coking coal for metallurgy up to 40 million tons per year. Now we supply about 8 million of all types of coal to India, ”Nikolai Shulginov noted.

The minister added that in addition, the document will stimulate enterprises in Russia and India in the development of coal deposits, the development of coal logistics and infrastructure, the promotion of R&D in production, education and training for the coal industry in India.

The parties also discussed the prospects for cooperation in other sectors of the fuel and energy complex.

“Russia and India have a long history of bilateral relations, which are developing in the spirit of mutual support and friendship. Our companies are interested in the implementation of current projects and are aimed at effective interaction, ”Nikolai Shulginov said.
