Tata Power: Tata Power’s ‘Powerlinks’ spurs innovation in education by launching E-Vidya, an E-learning platform in Siliguri, West Bengal
Tata Power’s ‘Powerlinks’ has launched E-Vidya, an e-learning platform under its Digital school lab initiatives in Siliguri, West Bengal. Through E-Vidya, the company aims to benefit 220 teachers and offer academic learning to over 15000 students across 57 schools in the Jalpaiguri & Siliguri districts.
Launched in the presence of West Bengal Tourism Minister, Goutam Deb, E-Vidya is aligned with the West Bengal State Board curriculum up to Class 10. The program intends to make learning a delightful experience for students through animation, riddles, puzzles and stories and digital technology.
Its main objective is to facilitate an effortless interaction between teachers and students as well as enhance general knowledge and cognitive skills through AV learning along with providing access to web-based learning solutions. This will equip them with the present digital world thereby, improving the quality of education and decreasing the dropout rate.
Elaborating on the program, (Ms Kiran Gupta, Powerlinks CEO & ED), said, “At Tata Power, we have always believed that education is the backbone of any progressive country. Through E-Vidya, we aim to introduce an advanced and path-breaking solution in the education sector and offer innovative teaching & learning experience for school students. It is our endeavour to simplify the way children are taught in schools, particularly during pandemic, by digitizing educational content and making it a lot more interesting.”
Ms Diksha Singh, Head HR PTL & TPTCL & CSR Powerlinks shared that this initiative was adopted by Tata Power Solar under its best practices and has been implemented in association with South Rotary NGO across 27 Government schools in FY 2021 and 30 in FY 2020 in Siliguri’s remote villages. It is a unique example of collaborative efforts by the Government, CSR and NGOs to strengthen and improve the education quality, increase creativity in the students and create a sense of healthy competitiveness among them through quiz for improved performance. It has not only helped teachers to continue the online classes during pandemic but also helped complete the course curriculum in an effective manner.
