Recently, A2A is about building one of Europe’s largest photovoltaic roof project, in building the Milan exhibition hall roof 8.09MW photovoltaic project.

The Italian A2A SpA (hereinafter referred to as “A2A”) group is the second largest Italian utility company for power generation and distribution invested by the Italian government, with great strength and influence.

Located in northern Italy, Milan is the world’s fashion and art center, one of the biggest world’s historical and cultural city, and one of the four major economic centers in Europe. And FIERA-MILANO is the leading exhibition venue in the world exhibition industry.

Join forces to develop the Italian photovoltaic market

This cooperation project of Talesun Solar is one of the largest photovoltaic roof projects in Europe. On the roof of the famous attraction Milan Exhibition Hall, Talesun Solar provides the product model HIPRO TP660M full black module series, with a project area of about 270,000 square meters. The entire project is expected to be completed in June 2021.

A2A CEO Valerio Camerano said: “We have cooperated with Talesun Solar for many years in the Italian market. Talesun Solar is not only able to provide high-quality modules, but also an experienced partner. We signed a cooperation agreement with Talesun Solar last year. We will jointly develop a 1GW photovoltaic power station in Italy. We have been very happy to cooperate. The project of this cooperation will be one of the largest rooftop photovoltaic projects in Europe, and everything will be implemented smoothly as planned.”

Sheng Hao, CEO of Talesun Solar, said: “I am very happy to cooperate with A2A again to build a photovoltaic rooftop power station in Milan Exhibition Hall. We will provide a strong guarantee for the Milan Exhibition Hall project with high-quality photovoltaic modules. Talesun Solar is speeding up operations. The pace of innovation and expansion of overseas market development space will strengthen our role in overseas new energy projects in the future.”

The development and policy of the Italian photovoltaic market

Italy entered the field of photovoltaic research and development earlier. With the development of the global photovoltaic market, the Italian photovoltaic industry has once again entered a stage of vigorous development. The Italian Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) released the country’s new energy strategy plan (Strategia Energetica Nazionale-SEN) for the period 2020-2030 in November 2017. This plan shows that Italy will vigorously develop solar and renewable energy in the next ten years, and will gradually eliminate the share of coal power production by 2025. The Italian government predicts that the share of renewable energy will increase to 27% in 2030. Photovoltaic power generation in Italy has met 5% of electricity demand and more than 10% of peak demand.

The main reason why Italy supports photovoltaics is its unique geographical location. Since 2005, the government has established the Conto Energia system for photovoltaic projects as a strategy to achieve the renewable energy targets set by the EU Directive 2001/77/EC.

According to the Photovoltaic Geographic Information System (PVGIS), the annual average solar radiation in Po River Plain in Italy is 3.6 kilowatts per square meter, Central Southern Italy is 4.7 kilowatts per square meter, and Sicily is 5.4 kilowatts per square meter. All this shows that Italy’s superior geographical location is a favorable condition for the construction of photovoltaic power plants.
