Meti: Briefing Session on the Current Status of Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS) Treated Water at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, the Government of Japan organized a video conference briefing session on the current status of Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS) treated water at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS) for all diplomatic missions in Tokyo.

In the session, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy and TEPCO explained the outline of the report released by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on April 29 regarding the review of the safety aspect of ALPS treated water conducted in February, and an outline of the application document submitted by TEPCO to the Nuclear Regulation Authority on April 28 for a partial amendment to its application for approval to amend the implementation plan, which was followed by a Q&A session.

The Government of Japan continues to explain the situation of the FDNPS to the international community in a transparent manner in close collaboration with the related Ministries and Agencies.
