MOEI Gov Announces A Future 5-Billion Road Plan For The Next 10 Years

HE Eng. Hassan Mohamed Juma Al Mansoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for the Infrastructure and Transport Sector, revealed that the Ministry has recently completed the development of a future development plan for the federal road sector for the coming ten years for approx. AED 5 billion. The plan aims to meet the needs of various regions across the UAE, keeping pace with the rapid growth in the UAE, enhancing the quality of life, creating high-efficiency infrastructure and federal roads commensurate with the development taking place across the country. It also enhances the state’s competitiveness in international forums and supports the future direction of the next fifty years, in addition to achieving the goals of global leadership in order to achieve the UAE Centennial 2071.

Al Mansoori stressed that the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure continues its great efforts in developing an arterial road network linking the regions of the country to each other, as the Ministry is currently undertaking projects to develop and upgrade federal roads worth AED 500 million. This is done in line with the best international standards and infrastructure upgrades which contributes to raising the state’s competitiveness and improving the quality of federal roads, by developing and raising the capacity of the highways across the UAE.

Al Mansoori added: “The ministry seeks, through its vision, which is in line with the state’s vision and strategy, to achieve global leadership in the areas of infrastructure and transport, by developing and expanding the current federal network of bridges, tunnels and roads. It tries to benefit from smart traffic and transport applications and systems to achieve the highest efficiency of the roads and transport system. It aims to keep pace with urban development across the emirates of the country according to the highest international standards, to ensure safe, smooth and sustainable mobility in cooperation and coordination with partners in the field of transport and roads in the country. The ministry also seeks to provide the roads with all the services necessary to support electric vehicles and the smart mobility system, especially self-driving vehicles.”

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure stressed that road projects are among the paths of the UAE’s new development model, which tops the development projects during the next fifty years. Such projects are the main driver of sustainable development. Al Mansoori expressed his deepest thanks and gratitude to the wise leadership, for their keen interest in the road sector and being staunch supporters of national economies, social cohesion, happiness and quality of life. He further praised the efforts of government entities for being a major partner of the Ministry in the great successes that contributed to strengthening the joint integrated work between both federal and local government entities and implementing unified national plans in support of the road network in the country, bringing it closer to become a global leader by its Centenary 2071.

Al Mansoori said: “One of the priorities for the UAE wise leadership is to provide advanced infrastructure and arterial roads that achieve happiness and quality of life for citizens and residents, support national economies and the UAE’s global leadership, and move to the next fifty years of achievements, leading to the celebration of the UAE Centennial 2071. It is also a strategy and agenda of the Ministry Energy and infrastructure that has been translated into road development projects and initiatives across the country. He stressed that achieving the highest security standard and increasing the capacity of roads, while taking into account the smooth traffic flow, is a top priority in the UAE as part of its keenness on keeping pace with the rapid developments in various sectors.”
