“I am very pleased that Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovator has recognized Philips for the ninth consecutive year, highlighting our strength in creating breakthrough innovations that improve people’s health and well-being,” said Frans van Houten, CEO of Royal Philips. “Our deep commitment to R&D has resulted in numerous groundbreaking innovations, such as the Spectral CT7500, which delivers fast and confident diagnosis from the emergency department to the cardiac lab, as well as the image-guided therapy platform Azurion, helping surgeons in the interventional lab perform personalized minimally invasive procedures with enhanced outcomes.”

Other successful recent innovations include Philips’ Intellivue Patient Monitors to support scalable and cybersecure patient oversight and prevention of adverse events in hospitals across the world, IntelliSite Digital Pathology Suite to enhance diagnostic confidence and workflows in pathology labs leveraging AI and cloud technologies, and the Sonicare 9900 Prestige, a premium electric toothbrush that leverages AI to optimize the user’s brushing technique.

In 2021, Philips’ innovations improved the health and well-being of 1.7 billion people globally, while circular revenues accounted for 16% of the company’s sales. This was driven by Philips’ smart healthcare informatics and services to enhance medical equipment uptime and utilization, system and software upgrades for enhanced functionality and extended lifetime, as well as the reuse of refurbished parts and systems. Moreover, Philips is carbon neutral in its own operations, including all of the company’s R&D activities.
