PTT Group: PTT closely monitors the situation in Myanmar Emphasis on continuity of natural gas management

Mr. Atikom Terbsiri, Chief Operating Officer of Upstream Petroleum and Gas Business Group, PTT Public Company Limited, revealed that on January 21, 2022, Total Energy EP Myanmar has announced its withdrawal from being a co-investor and operator of the Yadana project which will continue to be the operator of the project for another 6 months to maintain the continuity of natural gas production, PTT and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited Yanada Project together with the Ministry of Energy has closely monitored the situation in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar taking into account energy security and prepare for continuity in natural gas management

In addition, Thailand has imported natural gas from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar since 1998. At present, it imports at 965 million cubic feet per day, receiving 650 million cubic feet per day of gas from the Yadana natural gas field. It accounts for about 10% of the natural gas used in Thailand. Which is used as a fuel for electricity generation in industry and transportation in the form of NGV, as well as gas from the Gulf of Thailand and LNG.
