Schlumberger is committed to driving environmental and social progress, both within the company and across the energy industry. Initiatives in place support a transparent approach to environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.

That focus is reflected by Schlumberger being selected for inclusion in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2021, a leading reference on corporate sustainability. S&P considered more than 7,000 companies based on assessment of ESG scores. This year’s yearbook includes 631 companies. Schlumberger is one of only three companies cited from the energy equipment and services sector.

“Our current focus is addressing climate change, making locally relevant social investments, and helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals—key priorities that align to our vision of defining and driving high performance sustainably. Sustainability has been a part of our DNA for decades, and our journey is one we are proud of and thankful to be recognized for,” says Lees Rodionov, Global Director Sustainability, Schlumberger.

The S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2021 scored ESG performance across hundreds of metrics. Companies must be within the top 15% of their industry as well as achieve a score within 30% of their industry’s top-performing company.

As part of its ESG commitment, Schlumberger uses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a primary framework for translating corporate priorities into locally relevant social and environmental programs and initiatives—prioritizing 11 of the 17 SDGs through which the company can achieve the greatest positive impact.

This approach enables in-country teams to concentrate on facilitating communities where we work and live in achieving targets associated with the SDGs. This reinforces how sustainability is embedded at every level of the company, including geographies, business lines, and functions, with contributions across its workforce enabling measurable progress.
